在法鼓佛教學院(Dharma Drum Buddhist College) 任職的德國博士Dr. Marcus Bingenheimer(馬德偉)講 “Chinese TEI Meets GIS - Tracing the 'Biographies of Eminent Buddhist Monks' through Time and Place”(中文TEI遇上地理資訊系統GIS – 經由時間及地點來追尋「高僧傳」)。這是他正在進行的研究計畫之一，也就是對四部佛教高僧傳的可視化研究(Visualizing and Querying the Biographies of Eminent Monks )。
尋著馬德偉網頁資訊的線索，我實際作了些查檢(見下面三張圖)：
(圖1)查詢高僧傳中，於公元300—500年期間，停留在長安的高僧(使用計畫網頁之example 1，找出nexus-points)，結果找到了三個聚點(小圖釘)，其中一點有四位人物-- 竺佛念、僧伽跋澄、曇摩難提，和趙正,，畫面顯示出人、地、時間(圖右上方有時間軸)三個面向；
點入這小圖釘符號便會出現文字說明框，末行標示在中華電子佛典CBET(註2)中的原文出處；再點入原文出處(CBETA text: T.50.2059.0329a28)，就可看到原文字句(如圖2)。
(圖3)再查漢傳佛教高僧傳地理資訊系統 (demo interface, beta version) ，查閱竺佛念的資料，原經文中許多詞已做了TEI標記(?)。

[感想]
1. 有人說：傳統編目人員要朝metadata librarian (詮釋資料館員) 方向前進？不論這樣說是否恰當，數位典藏資源的詮釋資料處理的情形應可給圖書館編目人員許多啟發與視度。

2. 對於國內外專家、研究人員從事佛典數位化的成績令人讚賞。
3. 這種將人、地、時間與資料連結及呈現的方法，讓人想到OCLC做的Identities，都將人們的心象、抽象連結的概念、或脈絡(contexts)給具體呈現了，同時提供更多聯想或觀察的廣(高)度。
